I was working myself to death operating my own beauty supply and salon, unfit, unhealthy and generally unhappy. Even though I had been reaching for something more satisfying, I felt stuck. Then I had an epiphany that my suffering was self imposed. I already knew about the law of attraction and realized I could make a change. Still, it took me a few years to really contemplate just how LOA was working in my life and to accept that my thoughts and feelings were responsible for my experience.

Your body is like the radio tuner or receiver. Broadcasting your signal at a high frequency and tuning yourself to this frequency, as close to Source energy as possible, allows you to receive and interpret the essence of this energy into words. We can all ask and receive answers to our own questions in the manner of Esther and Abraham with any form of high vibration consciousness.

If you've ever done this you know how cool it is. Some people have natural ability to do it without any real practice or effort. For me it was not that easy and it did take practice, but once the communication lines are open it's a beautiful thing.

Here's how I was able to do it...

I asked for more open communication with High Vibration Consciousness

I decided that I was sure I could have it

I got into a state of feeling love for myself and others

I started writing down my questions and the answers that came to me

I could tell the answers were coming to me from High Vibration Consciousness because they came in very quickly and it wasn't so much like I was thinking but really just receiving the information and although some of it was stuff I already knew, other things were were much wiser and way more loving thoughts than I had access to just moments before.

Anyway, I encourage you to play around with this and see if you get more clarity and deeper insights for yourself and the questions you have about your life!

Abraham shares in this conversation with a father whose daughter has passed into non-physical that he can interpret her vibration into meaningful conversation. Then at 10:55, they say we can all communicate with Abraham in this manner as well. (Which is cool because I have been... )

As a universal law, the law of attraction is a neutral phenomenon that is happening all the time, just like the law of gravity. It is in action due to the energy, frequencies or vibrations that are created in the human bio-energetic field as thoughts, feelings, and emotions.
For simplicity of this explanation, I’m going to simply refer to this as your vibration. Every person is always attracting or being attracted to other people, circumstances or situations that are a vibrational match. Vibrations range in frequency, no differently than the frequencies of color, light and sound. Again for simplicity, low frequency slow vibrations are felt as negative or bad feelings while high frequency, faster vibrations are felt as good or positive feelings. The most positive feelings are appreciation and self love and this is our natural state of being when all the negativity is let go. As babies, we arrive in this state generally, although traumatic births or dysfunctional beginnings rapidly change this. And as we go through life attracting what we are vibrationally matching, it seems like the reality we are experiencing is shaping us into the adults we become when really, it is the other way around. We are always attracting that which matches our vibration. We are never not attracting. Everything that happens, every person we interact with, every circumstance or situation we find ourselves in is as a result of this. Yes, collectively there is an influence, but again to keep it simple just know that your vibration creates your reality. You’re doing it now. And if you are not deliberately choosing how you are thinking and feeling in any given moment, you are creating your life by default even if you don’t like it.
If you can accept this or even just suspend disbelief long enough to suppose it’s true and decide to change your thoughts and feelings (your vibration) to ones that make you feel good and are positive, you will see changes that are good and positive begin to appear in your reality. It is a universal law. It has to work this way. The more you practice this deliberateness in your thinking and feeling, the better things in your reality will become. It has to. It is a universal law. The better things get and, you will be aware that it is because of your better feeling thoughts, the more you will believe in the action of the law of attraction and your ability to harness it deliberately. You will begin to turn your attention to better feeling thoughts about important areas in your life, such as business or relationships and as you believe you will allow more goodness to come to you because essentially, you have raised your vibration and you are now a vibrational match to all the good things you want.

That in a nutshell is the law of attraction and how to use it for your benefit.
Listening to Abraham Hicks today, I heard them make the above statement. Now I know this to be an accurate statement, but I began thinking about how I would have missed the point of the statement in my old way of thinking. I know so many people who would miss the point so my mind went into an example of this.

A family member frequently makes the following statement - "You do what you have to do." In other words, when a problem or challenge is presented, you will have to make certain sacrifices in order to resolve it and come to a solution for yourself. If the sacrifice is a tough one or something you don't necessarily want to do, so be it, you have to do it anyway if you want to achieve your goal. I believed this to be true for many years. So I struggled along, fighting my way through the rough patches in life, sacrificing my deepest desires for the direction I wanted my life to go so that I could keep a roof over our heads, food on the table and gas in the car. I was unhappy, stressed and longing for something different. Someone to come and take me away from the tortured life I was living.
At the same time, I also knew that faith in my higher power (God) could help me, could present unforeseen opportunities for change, and remove some of the burdens of life from my shoulders. So I began to focus more and more attention on the spiritual side of life, and I realized its all spiritual. (a great book on this is "Theres a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem" by Wayne Dyer)
There's a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem
I began to realize that there is no struggle except for what we create for ourselves, there are no problems except for our perception of circumstances and our beliefs about good and bad. I began to see that I had the ability to co-create my life all along and that indeed, the life I had reflected the thoughts and beliefs I had developed and not the other way around. The idea that "I can do what I want to do" in relation to challenges and in creating a fulfilling life became more and more developed in my mind until one day it replaced the belief that "I can only do what I have to - no matter how hard".
I believe that life is as easy or as hard as we make it. I believe that everything is perception and belief and these can be changed at will to turn any situation into one that is beneficial. I believe that what I think and how I feel today is creating my tomorrow and that by thinking about what I desire and feeling good about myself and choosing to be happy, peaceful and loving, I am creating my best life experience.

Yes, "You do what you have to do" is a true statement for some people. It's true for them because they believe it, their thoughts and actions are filtered through this belief and as a result it is proven true. However, by choice, it's not a true statement for me. I am doing what I want to do. I remind myself daily that I am blessed, grateful and loved unconditionally. I am serving my highest and best self and being the best me I can be and giving of this version of myself to the world with a complete expectation and belief that this will be reflected back to me. This reflection is the life, circumstances and world I AM creating. I do not have to suffer, struggle or fight. These things are a construct of belief, fear, doubt and perception. Does that mean situations most people consider "problems" will not appear? No, it just means that if they do, I know I always have a choice in how I perceive it, actions I take about it and results I gain from it.

Once I started thinking this way, many things in my life changed. Some people would say, "well that's just a coincidence. You didn't create that situation. It just happened." And to the word "COINCIDENCE" I whole heartedly agree. "Co-Incide-nce" - the word means the action of things happening together or at the same time. At the same time I changed my thoughts about my situation, my situation changed. Coincidence is not accidental. The word also means to be in harmony, agreement and to intersect or meet at a common point in time or space.
Coincidence is proof that your thoughts are creating your reality and that you can choose by changing your beliefs and feelings consciously what the TRUTH of your reality will be.

Here's the talk by Abraham Hicks, if you want to hear it.

after hot yoga workout!

As I do each year, I'm off to a leaping start with my latest new year's resolutions. This year is different. The last half of 2013 taught me many new things about myself and my ability to stand in the totality of who I AM. I've learned new skills and basically, turned a corner in my quest towards feeling good (the original intent of this blog) and living the life I've dreamt of. I'll summarize those changes -
1. Quit my job (at the very insistent urging of my internal compass) at the end of August.
2. Discovered the very real nature of spiritual energy and helped a lost soul cross over to the Other Side (literally) in October/ November.
3. Met my friend and teacher and learned to meditate and use spiritual tools to ground my energy and fully realize my connection to God, my Source.
4. Took notice of my creative nature and how the law of attraction is constantly working and my ability to deliberately utilize this universal law.
5. Manifested the perfect living environment to fulfill my passions.

That last one was a doozy! Suddenly finding myself with the support, time, physical environment and resources to put the things I really want to do into action was both unexpected and a bit unsettling at first. I literally had to allow myself to get out of my survival mode mindset and accept the blessing.

So I gave myself a few weeks to take it all in and set the starting line at January 1, 2014. Perfect! The resolutions... re-solutions, are changes that I believe with my new skill sets and new environment will be permanent changes, never to be re-solved again!

1. Improving my health and fitness. I realized that the emotional and energetic aspects of my body have been ignored and forgotten. I believe my pattern of weightloss in the spring/summer and gaining it all back in the winter is the result of this. My beliefs, attention to my emotions and energy and my ability to create the body that best serves me is equally as important as hitting the gym and eating right. I choose to feel good, happy, joyful and spend time in meditation and connection to my energetic body. I am able to influence my physical body in ways that produce results that match the highest and best version of myself. Statements (like that) of affirmation change the way my brain and subconscious work, creating new habits that support the changes I am making! Who knew?!

I have been wanting to take hot yoga classes for a couple years ever since I did a one month trial of Bikram Yoga and I loved it. However I had not wanted to spend the monthly fees for the classes so I just never went back. In my new home, my room is the perfect size and set up for me to do hot yoga at home! So starting January 1, I began my hot yoga practice and after 3 days - well all I can say is so far so good! I've found some videos on YouTube that I like and will keep my practice going. I did these two this morning and as you can see from my picture - it was a good workout!

I also decided to get back into the habit of making vegetables my main dish and keeping to more of a paleo diet, which I felt really good doing before. So on December 31, the last day before my start date and also my birthday, I indulged in food and desserts and allowed myself to thoroughly enjoy them. I'm now eating more vegetables and enjoying them as well, knowing and seeing the changes to my body (seriously) in just 3 days.

2. Improving my work life. Discovery of what really matters to me, what I'm good at and what my passions are were always overshadowed by the "survival mode" thinking - what I had to do to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table. Many times I considered what I would do if my survival were not in the equation. I wished my parents or sisters were nearer and could offer the support I felt I needed to really do the things I wanted to do professionally. But even my dreaming of what I could do was colored by the concept of need and lack and when I left my job to pursue self employment again, this need and lack was at the core of my business planning. It took me a few months to uncover this in my meditation and introspection, as well as in seeing how my path was unfolding and what I was - and WASN'T - manifesting. I saw that the way I was working was going in the opposite direction of what I really want and was putting me in a mindset of stressing about money and time management. I took a couple weeks to unload my plate of all the things I didn't want, which put me into a brief and scary place of figuring out how to get what I really do want - and oh man that's a topic for a whole other blog post! Suffice it to say for now that the path is a spiritual one and the actions I took were inspired and not analysed. I'm still slowly finding my way in this new way of being - less efforting, more allowing, less doubt, more knowing, less focus on what's missing, more focus on what's here and now and way more gratitude for it all.

Experts say that for optimal health we should drink 8 - 8oz glasses of water per day. Now, many health gurus have revised that to be 1/2 oz of water for every pound of body weight. So a 200 lb person should drink 100 ounces of water each day. There's 128 ounces in a gallon of water. The fact is that the human body is 70% water and the brain is closer to 80%. If a person is even a little dehydrated, it can have profound effects on their health and mental ability.

But the kind of water we drink is just as important as the quantity. Tap water and bottled water are technically dead or of little value to the body because they carry so many other chemicals, have an acidic pH and are lacking in the correct charge (a negative charge) to be used by the body. Even reverse osmosis water and filtered water is lacking in essential minerals, the electrolytes the body needs for proper hydration, muscle function and energy production. The molecule size of the water from these sources is also too large to penetrate the cells in the body and is not completely absorbed.

So what do we do?
Find a source for water that is alkaline pH, has electrolyte minerals and micro-clustered molecules. This water exists in nature at the bottom of unpolluted waterfalls. It's also able to be made by countertop water filtration systems. People who drink this water daily for a month report getting profound health benefits, from weight loss to relief from pain to resolution of chronic illnesses (and I personally know people who have gotten these benefits including myself). It's not so much the water mind you, but giving the body the fuel it needs to self correct problems caused by lifestyle choices.
I admit I wanted to cheat a few times and really go off course but I stuck with it and I feel FANTASTIC.
I am down about 10 pounds and counting and now have the motivation to continue on this fitness journey.
Please read my other blog posts for the full story of the detox journey in the first and second weeks.

Weight loss was not my primary goal. I've been on a mission for better health and wellness for a long time and I am serious when I tell u that a good cleanse or purification program is the Holy Grail for wellness and weight loss. The most remarkable changes...

Mental clarity - now able to do calculations in my head when I always needed a calculator.

Elevated mood - even with stressful situations, I find my mood consistently upbeat.

More energy - what else can I say, working 8 hours on my feet and still able to hit the gym.

Of course I ate very clean for the whole 21 days. I also took my supplements.

Going forward I plan to stick primarily to a paleo diet
and workout doing Slow Motion resistance training along with interval cardio (Sprint 8). There are a few good articles on Dr. Mercola's website about this kind of exercise.

I will keep posting on my progress...until then,
I just have a few notes on my progress.

1. Tracy said I would feel great by day 15. It was sooner than that. I have had mental clarity, energy and a great mood for the last several days. I have also been really motivated in the gym and feel like I have more stamina.

2. The colonics are a MUST - for me its been tough to drink enough water, take enough magnesium or mild laxative herbs to really get my colon cleaned out. If you do this and you don't want to get backed up with all the fiber, I highly suggest colon hydrotherapy.

3. If you are not a vegetarian or a chef, finding ways to keep the food interesting may be a little tough as well. I found myself getting really bored with smoothies and stirfry. I found a great show on PBS Christina Cooks - and her website as well with really good looking recipes. And she explains the benefits of the food choices on the show too.

4. I have added some nuts to the menu and ate 3 tacos for dinner one night. Aside from that I've stuck fairly close to the foods prescribed by the program. I also had not mentioned previously the supplements I'm taking and I highly suggest. This may be part of the reason I'm feeling so good. I will add links to each specific product I'm using but you could choose your own.
I know this may seem like a lot of supplements. Ok it is. But there are specific reasons for each one . Interestingly I have not taken a regular multivitamin during this time. But I do use greens powders in my smoothies.
I'm not trying to lose 20 as some people can but I have lost some and will post the total on day 21. As the body begins to draw toxins from the tissues and organs, it really feels bad.

For me, the first four days were a little rough, not so bad I couldn't function but I felt pretty lousy. Headaches and nausea mostly along with watery eyes and fatigue. It almost felt like the "hangover" I get from eating gluten. Or like the beginning of my seasonal allergy symptoms. By day 5 I was feeling much better and by day 7 had no "detox" symptoms at all.

Today is day 9. I'm getting tired of only eating veggies. I use some fruit in my smoothies as well. Ive had brown rice a couple of times and yams or sweet potatoes as a "dessert" a few nights. Although I feel better, I'm having a hard time being satisfied by the food I'm eating and seem to be hungry a lot. In fact I'm hungry right now. I'm not calorie counting - the protocol is that you can eat unlimited amounts of vegetables. It's just that I get full but am hungry again a short time later when it's not convenient to eat. I have not figured out how to get past this issue. I've lost about 5lb which is a bit surprising even though the program boasts a 20 lb potential in 21 days. I've also been working out at the gym a few days a week.

I was craving chocolate today so for lunch I made my smoothie with cacao nibs, Chocolate Raw Perfect Food (Garden of Life) and dutch cocoa along with frozen berries and spinach. I don't know if that was legal but....It was goooood!

I'm also craving meat but I'm holding out till day 11 - just need to make it thru one more day.

One thing I noticed was that I felt much, much better after getting a colonic or colon hydrotherapy.I guess flushing all the toxins out of the colon is a good idea so they don't circulate back into the blood stream and get re-deposited in the fat tissue and organs.
Also, making the SP Complete shake with fiber in the vitamix is not good. Its better to make it in a blender bottle or in the blender on a very slow speed. I'm also not sure if I like adding it to a smoothie or just adding it to water and drinking it plain and just getting it over with. I think just getting it over with is a little better.

I'm almost halfway there...stay tuned for final results! Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06478599853502082282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2338004877334314907.post-20680493144483198662013-02-23T22:12:00.001-08:002013-09-16T23:40:34.014-07:00My 21 day detox - Day 1I decided to do a 21 day detox after talking to my friend Tracy about it. Tracy owns Alive colon hydrotherapy and after getting a few colonics, I decided to really see what a detox will do for me.

Standard Process has supplements that aid and support the detox process. The program seems simple enough.
Week 1 - Unlimited vegetables (from a long list) and some fruit, Tracy suggested one or two servings a day of low glycemic fruit to maximize weight loss, but the program allows for more as long as it's only half the quantity of veggies.
4-7 teaspoons of high quality oils per day such as coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, fish oil, flax oil or grape seed oil.

The program does not mention seasonings so I'm sticking with what I already know to be healthy choices -garlic, herbs, sea salt, pepper, organic apple cider vinegar, liquid aminos (or gluten free soy sauce)

2-3 SP Complete shakes per day (you can blend these up with fruit and veggies and they have some recipes on their website)
7 SP Cleanse capsules 3 times per day
3 Gastro-Fiber capsules 3 times per day OR 1 tablespoon of Whole food fiber per SP Complete shake.

Week 2 & 3
On the 11th day you can add lean meat, wild caught deep sea fish is suggested at least once a day. Other meat should be organic, free range if possible. Total servings of meats is 2-4 per day.

In addition to the SP supplements in the first week, add 5 SP Green Food capsules 2 times per day starting on day 8.

A minimum of 64 oz of water is recommended, but my rule of thumb is 1/2 body weight in ounces.

You're probably wondering if there's anything you have to avoid while detoxing...Yes, yes there is. All the stuff you like but you know is kinda bad for you.
No processed food of ANY kind. Including sugar.
No coffee, alcohol, tobacco or other stimulants
No nuts or seeds
No Dairy
No grains except wild or brown rice

So....
My first day I started with a shake made with SP Complete, Whole food fiber, MCT oil, frozen mango, frozen cauliflower and spinach. It didn't taste too bad since I'm used to drinking vegan protein shakes. It had a mild flavor. I did notice what I think was an immediate detox effect. I was a bit queasy about 15 minutes after drinking. Took 7 SP Cleanse capsules.

I was very busy till about 3:30 and didn't eat anything till then but wasn't hungry either. The queasy feeling had long passed. I made another shake this time with frozen raspberries and the veggies as before. Took 7 SP cleanse capsules. Once again the detox feeling came over me. But I went to the bathroom ....lets just say the detox seems to be working.

For dinner I made a veggie stir fry with garlic, onion, mushrooms, and spinach. I also had butternut squash and apples cooked in coconut oil with pumpkin pie spices.

At the moment, I have a slight headache and my eyes were watering like when allergy season hits. I don't know if its allergies or a detox symptom.

Well, that's all for day 1....stay tuned.

This time I have a clear understanding of what my body really needs and doesn't need. I guess its all a learning and growing experience - Life.

As I read over my past updates, I'm pleased with how much I already knew and how much I really want to live a better, healthier lifestyle. At least it shows that I'm consistent and I'm making progress!

Enter Paleo Lifestyle - stage left...
Also known as Primal or Caveman diet, the paleo is a way of eating that resembles how ancient humans and peoples of indigenous regions would eat to meet their nutritional needs - without the pre-fab, modern day kinds of processed foods we are overindulging in nowadays.

For me this is not a diet. It truly is the way I intend to eat for the rest of my life. It happens to have a catchy name and be a popular movement among fitness minded people. But the principles of eating this way are not new. Pioneering practitioners of good nutrition have been suggesting, recommending and demanding that human beings should eat this way since the turn of the 20th century. Around the 1950's a dentist by the name of Dr. Page developed a food plan that very closely resembles paleo in order to promote overall wellness for his patients. There is no doubt in my mind and I believe the facts are obvious and they speak for themselves - whole food nutrition and eating to properly nourish the body is the ultimate way to live disease free and in total wellness, physically, mentally and even spiritually.
I'm so grateful for that. Truly, I am my mother's daughter. Mom was the best cook ever and she NEVER used a recipe. She just made food that was good, using her imagination and intelligence.

This is my second "recipe" - inspired by other paleo cooks but re-worked to suit my own likes. I hope you like it too as it turned out to be a very versatile little recipe.

From this recipe you can make "tortillas", crust for pies and tarts, crackers, pizza and I'm sure other things you come up with on your own.

I found a similar recipe by the civilized caveman. But I like using almond butter for "breads' so I changed it as follows.

Pre-heat oven to 350. In a mixing bowl add

1 cup almond butter (I used freshly ground from the bulk section at Winco)
1 cup coconut flour (Bob's Red Mill)
3 eggs
1/2 tsp sea salt

I mixed the ingredients by hand, kneading it until all combined.
Next I made little balls with the dough.

The oil from the almond butter make this easy and not too sticky. I placed the balls on parchment paper, covered with another sheet (only because I don't have a real rolling pin and didnt want to get my wine bottle all greasy) and rolled the balls flat and about 1/8" thick.

I placed the parchment paper with the dough into the oven and baked them until the edges turned brown - about 10 min.

Once I had about 11 "tortillas" made I decided the rest should be crackers so I cut the remaining flattened dough in to cracker shapes. I sprinkled the tops with a little sea salt before baking. I actually got busy with the rest of my dinner and forgot one batch. They may have been in the oven for about 20 min but they didn't burn, they were just crispier - which I think is ok for crackers!
My first recipe post! It's for a chocolate smoothie I concocted in my Nutribullet blender. I guess any blender will do but my portions fit the large cup of the Nutribullet. I chose the ingredients for their nutrient value, mild flavors, ability to satisfy and provide lots of energy - plus no added sugar. Feel free to tweak this to suit your taste.

Ingredients:
About 2 cups of fresh spinach (or enough to fill the large cup loosely to the max fill line)
1/2 a medium ripe avocado
2 tablespoons of dutched cocoa powder
1 tablespoon of almond butter
1 scoop of "Fiber-tastic"fiber powder (this is sweetened with stevia and serves as the sweetener for the smoothie. If you decide to skip this you will need some other kind of sweetener to taste)
2 teaspoons of Barleans orange flavored fish oil (this gives the smoothie a slightly orangy taste so skip or try Barleans Omega Swirl instead)
1 capful of MRM L-Carnitine-CoQ10 (this is also orange flavored and sweetened with stevia)
Enough Coconut milk to fill the cup (roughly 1 1/2 cups) to the max fill line after all the other ingredients are added
Optional - a mild tasting green powder like Vitamineral Greens or Genessentials Greens

Add all ingredients to the blender cup - make sure to add the coconut milk last.
Blend it up and serve. Bon Apetit!
Nutritionally, this smoothie provides all the macro nutrients the body needs and many micro nutrients as well for energy and metabolism.

Fresh spinach provides chlorophyll, it is a good source of Niacin and Zinc, and a very good source of Dietary
Fiber, Protein, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E (Alpha Tocopherol),
Vitamin K, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Vitamin B6, Folate, Calcium, Iron,
Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Copper and Manganese. It's nutritionally dense, meaning it provides many of the nutrients the body needs and it's also mildly anti-inflammatory.

Avocado is very low in Cholesterol and Sodium. It is also a good source of Dietary Fiber, Vitamin C, Vitamin K and Folate. It's high in healthy fats and also calories, but this smoothie is designed to use those fats for fuel with the addition of L-Carnitine and CoQ10.

Almond butter is very low in Cholesterol and Sodium. It is also a good source of Magnesium and Manganese. With as much protein as the spinach and the avocado put together as well as healthy fats, it will aid in the sustained feeling of fullness provided by this smoothie.

Dutch Cocoa - natural cocoa powder is a superfood! Its very high in antioxidants and phytonutrients - so high in fact that even the process of "dutching" it to make it less acidic and bitter does not remove all of these benefits and dutch cocoa is still highly nutritious! I would think that alkalizing it would be beneficial because the body needs to be more alkaline than acidic. But I have not read that anywhere.

Fiber-tastic powder provides 4g of fiber in addition to the fiber in the spinach and avocado. It tastes good, kind of fruity and sweet from stevia. Getting enough fiber - like 35g per day- is essential to proper digestion and optimal health. As a side note, stevia has been shown to have properties that lower blood sugar and cravings for sugar.

Barleans' Orange Fish oil packs 1740mg of Omega 3 fatty acids in each teaspoon. Most of us are deficient - I know I am because I participated in an Omega 3 study this winter. Deficient. So I am adding it as much as possible and eating more fish where it naturally occurs in significant amounts. But I digress...read up on Omega 3s to find out why we NEED these ESSENTIAL fatty acids. (please)

MRM L-Carnitine w/ CoQ10 -CoQ-10 is critical to the function of the heart, liver and kidneys where it supports cell membrane stabilization and acts as an antioxidant, in addition to energy production. L-Carnitine has been shown through clinical trials to support cardiovascular health beginning with its ability to assist in clearing fats from the blood and into the mitochondria, the energy powerhouse of the cells. L-Carnitine has also been shown to support muscle growth weight management and liver health. This combination of CoQ-10 and L-Carnitine is essential to cardiac function (heart muscle) and beneficial blood lipid profiles.

Coconut Milk -an altenative to other kinds of milk, I choose coconut for the MCTs (medium chain triglycerides) present. MCT's are beneficial for the conversion of fats to fuel instead of being stored by the body.

Greens powders - well what is there to say about those. Not super tasty but I find adding them to chocolate masks the taste pretty well. Lemonade too. But of course the health benefits are worth it. I like Vitamineral Greens because they include sea greens which provide iodine - a substance missing from the standard american diet (SAD) and they help the body balance substances found in cruciferous veggies. They are also super fine ground so they mix up without being gritty.

again, she gave a man her whole heart. And the pain of his departure
was no less than in times past. The only difference this time was she
made a choice. She didn’t FALL in love, she deliberately and openly
chose to love him with all the love God had given her. Without
attachment to the outcome and without illusions of what she may gain in
return, she loved him. So her pain, she realized, was only a shadow from
the past. It was her ego trying its best to take her into a low place
where blame and disappointment could cloud her mind and the pain could
turn her love to hate. She saw this for what it was, and with the grace
God gave her, she turned away from these emotions, feeling them all the
while, and she chose to continue to love in letting go.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06478599853502082282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2338004877334314907.post-67183686672417955912011-10-05T13:33:00.000-07:002011-10-05T13:34:25.802-07:00Update - Healthy Lifestyle and Parasite CleansingIt has been just over one year since I started my journey to better health. It helps that I have a great job at Super Supplements and get paid to learn about health and wellness - and what my body needs.

While it's not been easy to be totally consistent with all the goals I have made for myself, I can say that I feel better than I ever have. That said, I'm still working on achieving optimal health.

A few weeks ago one of the girls at work said we need to do a parasite cleanse. That was one topic I had never really done much research on, but I had a chiropractor tell me years ago that I had parasites.

Evidently, everyone does.

For some reason I was intrigued by this idea when I had flatly dismissed it before. So I began to do some research on the topic and found some extremely interesting information.

First, I looked up the effects parasites can have on the body. Even a relatively healthy person like myself is effected by the presense of parasites. They rob the body of nutrients from the food we eat and upset the pH balance of the body as well. But as I continued to research, I found out this is just the tip of the iceberg!

I turned to one of my favorite websites, earthclinic.com, to read up on the anecdotal information and remedies shared there. Many of the remedies were the same herbal remedies found in the products we sell at Super Sup and some I already have in my supplement cabinet - namely:
Black Walnut Extract
Sweet Wormwood Extract
Clove extract or fresh ground cloves
Apple Cider vinegar
Cayenne
Coconut Oil
Colloidal Silver
Diatomaceous earth

Apparently, regimens using therapeutic doses of these products have worked well for some people. Many of the stories I read reported the user getting ill before getting better as a result of the die-off of the parasites and the toxins being released into the system before being flushed out of the body.

As I continued reading I came across a post about Dr. Hulda Clark and something called a zapper. The post included a link to a manuscript written by Dr. Clark so I read it...and I was extremely intrigued. The book is called The Cure for All Diseases and it was available for free.

Basically in the book, Dr. Clark asserts that all diseases are caused by two things - PARASITES and POLLUTION.

She includes worms, fungus, bacteria and viruses within the category of parasites and pollutants that are found in our cosmetics, household supplies and environments as a whole.

The book is easy to read and understand and specifies various kinds of parasites as responsible for various conditions in the body. Furthermore, it describes the vibrational frequencies of organisms and how low voltage electrical currents can disrupt low frequency organisms like parasites to the point where they die.

Of course all of this is highly controversial and not endorsed by main stream medicine or the government. In the end, Dr. Clark - although a clearly brilliant woman, has been characterized as a quack. However, it seems that people are using this technology with success and it has been continually explored by other people, as I found in my research.

The next thing I did was try to find out where to get one of these zapper devices, though the book provides a diagram of how to make this device. Googling "parasite zapper" led me to Don and Carol Crofts website - a little deeper down the rabbit hole. They make a zapper called the Terminator. Impressive name, right? A lot more research on them, on their website and on Youtube made me decide to try this along with the herbal parasite cleanse I picked up at work.

Anything that goes on the skin will make it’s way into the body. A simple way to enhance ones health when environmental toxins are everywhere and unavoidable is to choose skin and hair care products that are free of chemical additives and preservatives. Coconut oil is a wonderful option that is not only good for the body, but can even lighten the load on your wallet since it can be used for multiple purposes!
I use coconut oil as an all over body lotion, hair treatment and for those occasional bouts of dry, itchy scalp. It disappears on the skin, absorbing well and does not leave a greasy feel, especially when used immediately after bathing. Coconut oil has many wonderful properties aside from being a great moisturizer.
That's the saying. Right? I spent the last 12 months learning how to plan an internet marketing campaign. It was a rigorous masters degree program taught by some of the industry's finest. And it was not cheap. And now several weeks past graduation I find myself in a state of partial depression, lacking direction and feeling passionless. Our emotions are always a signal to be paid attention to. A feeling of uneasiness and lackluster is a sign to me that I need to address an issue in my subconsciousness.
I'm a "hit the ground running" kind of person. Always feeling like time will run out if I don't take action fast. But if I have learned anything from my "higher education" it is that in order to move forward with passion and conviction the path must be clear. Clarity comes from thinking and planning first.
I realized that even with all my knowledge I have not taken the time to get clear on where I go from here. My failure to move forward, to use all my strengths, is really a failure to sit down be still and think about what inspires me. It comes from that fear that if I'm not actively doing something I'm failing. Fear is such an irrational emotion. That is not to say that one shouldn't exercise caution in a given situation. But the state of my life over the last year has taught me that it is a good thing to take life more slowly and deliberately.
I used to think I didn't have time for fitness and a healthy diet. Running my business consumed me. And in reality it ran me, not the other way around. I decided to step out on my faith and deep sense that my priorities were all wrong. And now I have time to be fit and eat right. I'm more educated than ever about what my body needs nutritionally and I feel better physically than I have in years. So it is with the same deep sense and faith that I am moving forward. Not aimlessly struggling to make money and feeling depressed when my efforts remain fruitless. But instead taking clear and calculated steps, including daily meditation - thinking about my inspirations and being inspired to action.
Another thing I came to realize is that doing less is not directly proportional to having less. In fact it can be quite the opposite. I work a lot less now than I did running Just Hair. A LOT. But I don't have less. I actually have more. More time to spend with my child. More freedom and flexibility in my schedule. I was able to earn a masters degree in 12 months. And by God's grace I pay my bills even though I don't always know exactly where the money is going to come from.

My path forward:
Take time to THINK, meditate, pray, get centered - slow down!
Ask for inspiration and take inspired action
Remember my top priorities - being spiritually connected, being physically fit and healthy by caring for my body with the supply God has provided, caring for my child and putting his emotional, physical and spiritual health on par with mine.

Some sources of inspiration for me:
Tim Ferris and the Four Hour Body - shows me that small changes can have huge impact
Wayne Dyer and The Power of Intention - have been inspired by his writings for years, but sometimes I forget and have to come back.
Tea and the art of Life Management - this video helped me to see and remember that there's a way to find balance and I'm not alone in seeking it.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06478599853502082282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2338004877334314907.post-38739473412663783582011-05-08T17:50:00.000-07:002011-05-08T17:50:57.883-07:00Update: Healthy LifestyleWow! It's hard to believe it has been six months since I started this journey towards a healthier lifestyle. I guess I must be doing some things right because I really feel good! There have been some ups and downs - I'm not going to say it has been easy to stay focused and on track. But overall, looking back and reading over my posts, I am much improved!

I had 9 points in my previous post that I was going to try to achieve.

1. Cleanse.
I used Jarrow Fiber perfect for two months. Ok, this may be a little TMI...but lets just say I now have wonderful poo. Here's a great blog on healthy poo if you want more info. Here's what Dr. Oz had to say about poo on Oprah.
I now try to eat high fiber foods regularly and supplement from time to time. I found that other supplements like omega 3 and enzymes seemed to help as well.

2. Cut Sugar.
This was hard. I went on the HCG diet in January. On this very strict diet I lost weight very fast. But I didn't feel great and when I stopped the diet after 3 weeks, I did gain some pounds and inches back. Throughout the month of March and April, I pretty much went back to my high carb (normal) way of eating. By the end of April I was feeling so bloated and uncomfortable that I knew I had to start over with better eating. I tried to cut back on how much food I was eating and was going to the gym regularly, but found myself hungry and miserable by the end of the day and just eating all night long until bedtime.
I did some research on the Ideal Protein diet and from what I read (and already knew) I decided to try a high protein, low carb, very low sugar eating plan once again. This time I was determined not to starve myself, but to monitor my intake of carbs and sugar, similar to The Belly Fat Cure diet.

On my plan I'm having:
two or three protein shakes made with Betty Lou's Low Glycemic Protein powder
a scoop of Green Vibrance
added cal-mag powder
a spoonful of Omega Swirl
a spoonful of MCT oil
1 oz of Power 4 juice and/ or 1 oz of Nutra Rev

A healthy dinner with lean meat and lots of veggies some cooked and some raw.

For snacks I have a handful of pork rinds or nuts

I have been doing this for one full week with remarkable results.
Not hungry. So I'm not thinking about food.
More energy. I've gotten up at 6 am to go to the gym every day this week and overall just feel energetic. I normally stay on the cardio machine until I have burned 400 calories. At first this took me 50 minutes, now it's under 35.
Lost weight and inches. I weighed myself on Tuesday at 216. Saturday I was 212. My pants are much looser too.

3. Use coconut oil and MCT oil
I cook exclusively in coconut oil. I use MCT oil in my shake. I also use coconut oil on my hair and skin. I do it because of the studied health benefits, which are numerous.

4. Eat low glycemic fruits and veggies.
This was a little tough. Let's just say old habits die hard. I'm getting better with it and am eating more fresh veggies, and cooking with fresh seasonal veggies. Last night we had grass fed beef steaks, coleslaw and steamed asparagus for dinner.

5. Drink 110 oz. of water every day.
This has become easier. I keep a 52 oz. cup handy and re-fill it several times a day.

6. H.O.P.E formula
By Brenda Watson of Renew Life
Yes, I do it. Every day. and I tell everyone who comes to me with any kind of health issue to do it as well. This simple formula has the potential to transform health.
H = high fiber 35g/day
O= Omega fatty acids (they are called ESSENTIAL fatty acids for a reason)
P= Probiotics
E= enzymes, and they are responsible for EVERY chemical process in the body, not just digestion.

7. Plan meals
I'm still not really planning my meals. But the protein shakes don't really take too much thought. I only have dinner to plan for. And since I'm not as hungry, I'm not looking for snacks throughout the day.

8. Exercize
As I already mentioned,
I have been going to the gym every morning. So far this is working. I added in a 20 min weight training routine and did the Body Pump class yesterday. I think the fact that I feel so much better is what is keeping me motivated to go. The workouts also seem to give me more energy. I have tried a couple of pre-workout supplements as well. They seem to give me more endurance during the workout.

my supplement cabinet

9. Take good supplements.
Already mentioned some, but here's my complete list (oh boy)
Alive Women's once daily multi-vitamin
Maitake SX Fraction
Yeast Freeze
Super Enzymes +
Betty Lou's Low Glycemic Protein Powder
Calcium & Magnesuim
DDS Plus probiotic
Saccharomyces Boulardi
L-carnitine
7-keto
Omega 3 (Barlean's omega swirl, Carlson's very finest fish oil, Udo's Flax oil)
Maca magic
Nutra Rev
Power 4 (Noni, Mangosteen, Acai, Goji)
PGX daily fiber

And there are some that I don't use daily
B complex
evening primrose oil
fem dophilus
sovereign silver
Barleans Olive leaf

And some that I have and don't take right now...but thats a list for another post.

So when I started I weighed 224. I actually gained weight through the holidays and was up to 227 by the first of the year. Today I am at 212 and have a goal to be at 190 lbs for the first time in like 15 years. I won't stress or pressure myself, but I think if I keep feeling as good as I do, this won't be a difficult task.

Magazine about the founder of Zappos, Tony Hsieh and his company. I am such a fan of people who create their lives - including their work - on their own terms and by their own set of standards and then make it really, really big. As an internet entrepreuner I want to learn from companies like Zappos.

They started off selling shoes online. Now, they sell clothing, outerwear, bags, housewares, watches and who know what's next?

But what they have created is not so much about what they sell. I mean you can find deals and steals all over the internet. I think their phenomenal growth has more to do with the CULTURE they created than with the stuff they decided to put on their website.

Even today, they have probably the most open and flexible customer service policies of any business anywhere. They offer (and always have to my knowledge) free shipping, free returns - for a full year, and 24-7 customer support.

Their internal culture is just as cool. From what I read in the article and from what they show on their website, they provide a work environment for their employees that is fun and requires people to get along, respect each other and form real community ties with each other. Hmmm. Sound like a great place? Does to me.

So the fact that you can go on their site and do all of your Christmas shopping or get winter gear with a choice from over 4 million products, and rest assured that whatever doesn't work can be returned, and speak to a person who likes their job and won't be rude on the phone if you do have to call the 800# (or tweet with them should you be so inclined) AND they flippin GUARANTEE delivery with free shipping on orders placed up to TWO DAYS before Christmas ...these facts make it easy to see why Zappos is leading the online retailers pack!

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06478599853502082282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2338004877334314907.post-84296203016591175982010-11-26T21:36:00.000-08:002010-11-26T21:36:21.934-08:00New lifestyle eating plan week 1 - cutting sugar from my diet So I made some changes in my diet....um I mean lifestyle over the past couple of weeks. I guess it's working as I am down 2 lbs. I'm not ashamed to say that at nearly 6' tall I was at 224 when I started (gotta find a tape measure to get all my starting stats done) and now the scale is holding at 222.

Major food cravings hit me last week that were due in part to HORMONES (uuuggh) but I'm trying hard to stay on top of them and not do anything to reverse my progress. Even after Thanksgiving dinner last night and an indulgence in a made from scratch gluten free fruit tart that I made up using GF ginger snaps and mixed fruit, I'm still down 2 and trying to eat less sugar.

So I was kinda excited to come across these gluten free sugar free hi-protein bars in the GF section at Albertson's. I picked out two to try and the jury is still out on these. They're think Thin bars. Sweetened with maltitol, they have ZERO grams of sugar.

I picked peanut butter and chocolate fudge.

Learning about lowering my sugar intake has led me to discover sugar alcohols, like xylitol and maltitol. They are basically sweetness from sugar without the sugar calories. The body does not recognize them, and use them as nutrients. The only warning so far is that in certain amounts they can cause gas, bloating and diarreah.

So back to the think Thin bar. You see where I'm going with this? After eating the first one this morning, nothing adverse happened. I ate the second one 5 hours later and well. Lets just say I wouldn't want to be around people right now. There's a foulness about me. Juss sayin.

So like I said the jury is still out. I'm not sure my system will adjust to sugar alcohols, though supposedly most people do with repeated consumption. We'll see. I definitely won't eat more than one a day if I get more.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06478599853502082282noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2338004877334314907.post-32982681797944768812010-11-15T18:12:00.000-08:002010-11-17T20:54:13.759-08:00Don't call it a DIET. I have known for several years that I really need to take control of my health and wellness. I have put many other things ahead of taking care of my physical body. Mainly working and being busy.

I have been working at Super Supplements for about two months now, mainly because I really like knowing about natural ways to be healthy and helping others in this quest. This job has really illuminated my lack of doing good health.
I have other excuses aside from being too busy:

It is too expensive. REALITY - eating right and taking the right supplements is waaay cheaper than Dr. bills and missing work due to illness.

I am not a pill taker and I won't stick to a regimen. REALITY - Better health is a lifestyle. There are many ways to get proper nutrition without popping pills all day. If the changes make me feel better I will stick to it.

There really is no excuse for not taking the time to live a healthy lifestyle.

I have done my homework and tomorrow I am starting a new plan for better health!

She is a CNA - a nurses assistant - at our local hospital. She was sharing a particularly funny experience she had with a patient today. I can always see her in her colorful scrubs - helping elderly patients. She has such devotion and dedication to her job. I just don't know how she does it! I think she could seriously have her own reality show.

She has to physically care for many of her patients who have various illnesses and infirmities, both physical and mental. She works a 12 hour shift, on her feet!

Sometimes she comes over feeling beaten down - it never ceases to amaze me that even in todays times there are still people out there with racist attitudes and stereotyping beliefs.

But she gets up, puts on her hospital uniform and does her job with a laugh, a smile and usually a song!

I asked her where to buy medical scrubs. I would love to buy medical scrubs online! I'm wondering if its the clothes that make it easier for her to have such a great attitude...!
